Regulatory note: After the FDA declared the semaglutide shortage resolved in February 2025, pharmacies could no longer routinely compound copies of that licensed product. On 1 May 2026 the FDA published a notice proposing not to include semaglutide, tirzepatide or liraglutide on the 503B Bulks List; a final determination is still pending. How the index works
- Each morning an automated read opens every provider's own public pricing page from a US connection and records the price it prints, the words beside it, and the date.
- Only the provider's own page counts. Never a reseller, a review site, a checkout page or an affiliate link.
- A sale price is recorded as a sale with the page's own wording, never as a standard price.
- The archive is append only: a reading is never edited or deleted, and a correction is a new dated row.
- If a page cannot be read, the last price stays with its older date rather than disappearing. A few pages that block automated reads are read by a person in a browser, and the history says so.
- The 3, 6 and 12 month columns multiply the printed monthly price, or use the billed total a provider prints for a prepaid plan. They are left blank for first month, sale and refill prices, for figures with no billing period, and for medications from a provider that also charges a required membership (the membership has its own row).
- Which providers we track, and the order within each table, have nothing to do with payment or affiliate status. Tables run from the lowest monthly price up.

How are the 3, 6 and 12 month costs worked out?
By multiplying the monthly price the provider prints, or by using the billed total it prints for a prepaid plan. We leave the total blank for a first month price, a sale price, a refill price or a figure with no billing period, because the page does not say what is charged after it. The totals assume the price stays the same. Where a provider also charges a required membership, its medication totals are left blank, because the medication price alone would understate the cost; the membership has its own row.

Are compounded GLP-1 medicines FDA approved?
No. Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are made by compounding pharmacies for individual prescriptions and are not FDA approved or evaluated by the FDA for safety or effectiveness. Brand-name medicines such as Wegovy and Zepbound are FDA approved and are listed separately.
