Hims Review

Edited by Gabriel BrocklesbyFounder & EditorFact-checkedLast updated

Hims sells brand-name GLP-1 medication from $149 a month, but a Hims Weight Loss Membership is also required ($39 for the first month, then $149 a month), so the lowest advertised ongoing cost is $298 a month. The FDA sent Hims a warning letter in September 2025 about claims for compounded semaglutide.

A large US telehealth brand. Its weight-loss page lists brand-name GLP-1 medication only, prescribed if a licensed healthcare provider decides you are eligible, with a required Hims Weight Loss Membership billed separately from the medication. All figures on this page were read on hims.com/weight-loss on 17 October 2026.

Quick verdict

Hims prints its medication prices and says plainly that a membership is also required, so the lowest advertised ongoing cost is $298 a month, not the $149 headline figure. The FDA sent Hims a warning letter in September 2025 about how it described compounded semaglutide, and no close-out letter is linked from the FDA's page as of 17 October 2026. If you are weighing it, add the membership to the medication price, check that it serves your state, and read the letter.

Who Hims is best for

Buyers who want brand-name GLP-1 medication from a large telehealth company and are comfortable paying a required monthly membership on top of the medication price. It does not suit anyone looking for a compounded GLP-1, because the weight-loss page we read on 17 October 2026 lists none.

This profile is designed to help users compare the program before beginning intake. It is not a recommendation that any treatment is appropriate.

Pricing and access

Lowest advertised ongoing cost: $298 a month. That is the lowest listed medication price ($149 a month) plus the required membership ($149 a month after a $39 first month). Medication prices on hims.com/weight-loss, checked 18 October 2026, are medication only: Wegovy pill from $149 a month, Foundayo pill from $149, Wegovy pen from $199, and Zepbound vial or KwikPen from $299. On 17 October 2026 the same page also listed the Ozempic pill from $149, Ozempic from $199 and Mounjaro at $1,899 a month.

The membership is required. Hims says medication is not available without it, that it is billed separately, and that it does not include or guarantee a prescription. It is $39 for the first month and auto-renews at $149 a month. The $298 figure combines the lowest listed medication price with the ongoing membership price, so your own total depends on the medication and dose a provider prescribes. Hims says the medication fee is FSA/HSA eligible and the membership fee is not.

US only. Hims says the weight loss membership is not available in all 50 states, and the page we read does not list which states. Check that Hims serves yours before you pay.

Treatment, consultation, and delivery

Brand-name medication only. The page lists the Wegovy pill (and a Wegovy pill microdosing plan), the Foundayo pill, the Ozempic pill, the Wegovy pen, Ozempic, Zepbound as a vial or a KwikPen, and Mounjaro. No compounded GLP-1 is listed on the page we read. Hims notes that Ozempic and Mounjaro are FDA approved for type 2 diabetes and are available only to patients who meet clinical eligibility criteria, as determined by a licensed healthcare provider.

Hims says a licensed healthcare provider determines whether you are eligible and that a prescription is required. It says the membership includes unlimited support from a dedicated Care Team, in-app weight tracking, dosage adjustments and support managing common side effects.

The page we read does not describe delivery or name a pharmacy. Hims says a smart scale is included with the membership at no extra cost if you opt in, and that it ships separately.

Hims pricing, explained

Read on hims.com/weight-loss on 18 October 2026, the lowest advertised ongoing cost is $298 a month: $149 for the lowest listed medication price plus $149 for the required membership. The medication prices are listed as medication only, and most are "From" prices: Wegovy pill from $149 a month, Foundayo pill from $149, Wegovy pen from $199, and Zepbound vial or KwikPen from $299. On 17 October 2026 the page also listed the Ozempic pill from $149, Ozempic from $199, Mounjaro at $1,899 a month and Zepbound at $1,899 a month.

The Hims Weight Loss Membership is required. Hims says it is $39 for the first month and auto-renews at $149 a month, that it is billed separately from the medication, that medication is not available without it, and that it does not include or guarantee a prescription. The first-month membership price is $39, so the first month and the months after it are not the same cost.

Hims says insurance is not required. It says the medication fee is FSA/HSA eligible and the membership fee is not, and that an FSA or HSA card cannot be the payment method on file. FSA/HSA eligibility varies by plan, so check with your plan administrator.

What the Hims membership includes

Hims says the Hims Weight Loss Membership gives access to a range of GLP-1 medications if you are eligible, plus unlimited support from a dedicated Care Team. It says the membership includes in-app weight tracking, dosage adjustments as your needs change, and support for managing common side effects. It also says a smart scale is included at no extra cost if you opt in, shipped separately.

Hims says a prescription is required and that a licensed healthcare provider decides whether you are eligible. The membership is not a prescription: Hims says it does not include or guarantee one. Hims also says the membership is not available in all 50 states.

Brand-name medication, and no compounded GLP-1 on the page

The weight-loss page we read on 17 October 2026 lists brand-name medication only: the Wegovy pill, the Foundayo pill, the Ozempic pill, the Wegovy pen, Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro. It lists no compounded GLP-1. That is a statement about that page on that day: we did not review other Hims pages, and we cannot say what Hims has offered before or offers elsewhere.

Hims notes that Ozempic and Mounjaro are FDA approved for type 2 diabetes and are available only to patients who meet clinical eligibility criteria, as determined by a licensed healthcare provider. Compounded medications, by contrast, are not FDA-approved and have not been evaluated by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality.

Worth knowing before you start

The membership is a separate, required charge, so the $149 medication figure is not the monthly cost. The lowest advertised ongoing cost is $298 a month, and your own total depends on which medication and dose a provider prescribes. A prescription is never guaranteed.

The FDA issued warning letter 716567 to Hims & Hers Health, Inc. dba Hims on 9 September 2025. In plain words, it says claims on the Hims website about its compounded semaglutide were false or misleading, and it alleges misbranding. We found no close-out letter linked from the FDA's page as of 17 October 2026. The full wording is on the FDA's page, linked above.

Hims says the weight loss membership is not available in all 50 states, and the page we read does not say which. Check your state before you pay.

What to ask Hims before you enrol

What will my total monthly cost be once a provider has chosen my medication and dose, with the membership added? The page lists medication prices as "From" figures.

Which states is the membership available in, and is mine one of them?

What happens to my membership if a provider decides not to prescribe, and what is refundable?

Has Hims responded to FDA warning letter 716567, and has the website wording it covered been changed?

Hims strengths, and what to know before you start

Strengths

  • The medication prices and the membership terms are both on the weight-loss page, and the membership is stated to be a separate charge
  • Lists brand-name medication only, with the brand and form named for each product
  • Says insurance is not required
  • Says the medication fee is FSA/HSA eligible

Worth knowing before you start

  • A membership is required on top of the medication, so the lowest advertised ongoing cost is $298 a month rather than $149
  • The membership does not include or guarantee a prescription
  • The FDA issued warning letter 716567 to Hims & Hers Health, Inc. dba Hims on 9 September 2025 over claims about compounded semaglutide, and we found no close-out letter linked from the FDA's page as of 17 October 2026
  • The membership fee is not FSA/HSA eligible, according to Hims
  • Not available in all 50 states, and the page we read does not list which states
  • Some medications are priced far above the lowest figure: Mounjaro is listed at $1,899 a month

Frequently asked questions

Is Hims legit?

We do not rate whether a provider is legitimate. What we can say is what is on the record. Hims is a large US telehealth brand, and its weight-loss page says a licensed healthcare provider decides eligibility and that a prescription is required. The FDA issued warning letter 716567 to Hims & Hers Health, Inc. dba Hims on 9 September 2025, alleging misbranding over claims about its compounded semaglutide, and we found no close-out letter linked from the FDA's page as of 17 October 2026. The weight-loss page we read on 17 October 2026 lists brand-name medication only. Read the letter on the FDA's site, and add the required membership to the medication price, before you decide.

How much does Hims weight loss cost a month?

At the lowest advertised prices, $298 a month: $149 a month for the lowest listed medication price (the Wegovy pill) plus $149 a month for the Hims Weight Loss Membership, which is required. The membership is $39 for the first month and then auto-renews at $149 a month, and it is billed separately from the medication. Other medications are listed from $199 a month (the Wegovy pen) and from $299 a month (Zepbound vial or KwikPen). Prices read on hims.com/weight-loss on 18 October 2026. On 17 October 2026 the page also listed Mounjaro at $1,899 a month. Your own total depends on the medication and dose a provider prescribes.

Does Hims still offer compounded semaglutide?

The Hims weight-loss page we read on 17 October 2026 lists brand-name medication only and does not list a compounded GLP-1. The only semaglutide product it names is the Wegovy pill. That is only what that page shows on that day: we did not review other Hims pages and cannot say what Hims has offered before or offers elsewhere. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA's September 2025 warning letter to Hims concerned claims about compounded semaglutide.

Does the Hims membership guarantee a prescription?

No. Hims says the Hims Weight Loss Membership is billed separately and does not include or guarantee a prescription, and that medication is not available without the membership. A licensed healthcare provider decides whether treatment is appropriate for you.

Does Hims take insurance, FSA or HSA?

Hims says insurance is not required. It says the medication fee is FSA/HSA eligible but the membership fee is not, and that an FSA or HSA card cannot be used as the payment method on file; you can pay with a credit or debit card and submit for reimbursement. Eligibility varies by plan, so check with your plan administrator.
