Brand comparison

Hims vs MEDVi

Edited by Gabriel BrocklesbyFounder & EditorFact-checked

Short answer: Hims and MEDVi sell different things. Hims sells FDA-approved brand-name medication with a required membership: $39 for the first month, then $149 a month, plus medication from $149 a month, so $298 a month at the lowest listed price (checked 31 October 2026). MEDVi's main plans are compounded GLP-1 injections, which are not FDA approved, at an introductory $99 for the first month and $199 for refills, with no membership (checked 31 October 2026). Both have an FDA warning letter on record.

For anyone weighing a brand-name membership against a compounded programme. Every figure is read from each provider's own pages or its public record, with the date.

Quick editorial read

Hims sells FDA-approved brand-name medication behind a required membership; MEDVi sells compounded GLP-1 at a lower figure with no membership, and names its pharmacies and refund terms. Both have an FDA warning letter on record over compounded-medication marketing. This page sets out what each states. It does not rank one above the other.

Hims

Full profile
Best for
Buyers who want brand-name GLP-1 medication from a large telehealth company and are comfortable paying a required monthly membership on top of the medication price. It does not suit anyone looking for a compounded GLP-1, because the weight-loss page we read on 17 October 2026 lists none.
Pricing
Lowest advertised ongoing cost: $298 a month. That is the lowest listed medication price ($149 a month) plus the required membership ($149 a month after a $39 first month). Medication prices on hims.com/weight-loss, checked 31 October 2026, are medication only: Wegovy pill from $149 a month, Foundayo pill from $149, Wegovy pen from $199, and Zepbound vial or KwikPen from $299. Checked 1 November 2026, the same page also lists the Ozempic pill from $149, Ozempic from $199 and Mounjaro at $1,899 a month.
Access
Brand-name medication only. The page lists the Wegovy pill (and a Wegovy pill microdosing plan), the Foundayo pill, the Ozempic pill, the Wegovy pen, Ozempic, Zepbound as a vial or a KwikPen, and Mounjaro. No compounded GLP-1 is listed on the page we read. Hims notes that Ozempic and Mounjaro are FDA approved for type 2 diabetes and are available only to patients who meet clinical eligibility criteria, as determined by a licensed healthcare provider.

MEDVi

Full profile
Best for
Buyers who want the supply chain written down before they pay. MEDVi is one of the few programmes at this price point that names its partner pharmacies, names the prescriber network, and publishes a full cancellation and refund policy. It also suits people weighing a compounded plan against a branded one on the same platform, since it prices both.
Pricing
Compounded GLP-1 injections are an introductory $99 for the first month and $199 for refills (checked 31 October 2026). Compounded GLP-1 tablets start at $249, with no period stated on the card (checked 1 November 2026). Branded routes are sold differently, as a $99 membership plus the cost of the medication itself (checked 1 November 2026). MEDVi states there is no membership fee or hidden fee on the compounded plans, that no insurance is required, that shipping is free, and that the plans are HSA/FSA approved.
Access
Compounded GLP-1 injections and tablets, plus branded GLP-1 routes sold as a membership plus medication cost. Prescriptions are issued only after an online consultation with an independent licensed provider. MEDVi states that compounded medications are dispensed by state-licensed pharmacies but are not FDA approved, and that although the facilities are FDA-regulated the medicines are not FDA-approved or evaluated for safety, efficacy or quality.

Is MEDVi cheaper than Hims?

On the published figures, yes, and the gap is the medicine. MEDVi's compounded GLP-1 injections are an introductory $99 for the first month and $199 at refill, with no membership (checked 31 October 2026). Hims's lowest total is $188 for month one and $298 a month after, the $149 membership plus medication from $149 (checked 31 October 2026). Hims's medication prices are "from" prices, so you learn your dose price after a provider prescribes.

The two prices buy different products: compounded medication at MEDVi, which is not FDA-approved, and a brand-name, FDA-approved medicine at Hims. For both over 3, 6 and 12 months, read daily, see the US GLP-1 price index.

Two FDA warning letters, and what each is about

Both providers have a warning letter from the FDA on record, and they are about related things. On 9 September 2025 the FDA issued letter 716567 to Hims & Hers Health, Inc. over claims on hims.com about compounded semaglutide, including "same active ingredient" wording; the weight-loss page we read on 17 October 2026 lists no compounded GLP-1. On 20 February 2026 the FDA issued letter 721455 to MEDVi, LLC over the labelling and marketing of its compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide products, which MEDVi still sells. Neither FDA page showed a close-out when we read it.

The letters are about marketing claims, not about whether a product harmed anyone. Read each on fda.gov, linked from the Hims review and the MEDVi review, before you decide.

Membership, refunds and what each does not say

Hims's membership is required and billed separately, auto-renews, and does not include or guarantee a prescription; the weight-loss page does not set out cancellation or refund terms, name a pharmacy, or list the states it serves. MEDVi publishes a cancellation and refund policy, names its three pharmacies and its prescriber network, and does not list the states it serves.

Their public records differ in kind. Trustpilot shows 2.9 from 9,289 reviews for Hims (read 29 October 2026) and 4.3 from 15,102 for MEDVi (read 26 October 2026); the BBB does not rate Hims and rates MEDVi F with 782 complaints in three years (read 22 October 2026). A complaint count and a review score measure different things.

How to choose

Hims sells FDA-approved brand-name medication behind a required membership; MEDVi sells compounded GLP-1 at a lower figure with no membership, and names its pharmacies and refund terms. Both have an FDA warning letter on record over compounded-medication marketing. This page sets out what each states. It does not rank one above the other.

The right provider is the one that can explain eligibility, costs, side effects, refills, and support before you commit. Avoid treating GLP-1 access as a generic checkout flow; consultation is required and availability varies.

Pricing and access

Hims: membership $39 for the first month, then $149 a month, plus medication from $149 a month, so $298 a month at the lowest listed price (checked 31 October 2026). MEDVi: an introductory $99 for the first month of compounded GLP-1 injections, then $199 for refills, with no membership fee on the compounded plans (checked 31 October 2026).

Brand-name medication only at Hims: the Wegovy pill and pen, the Foundayo pill, the Ozempic pill and Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro. Compounded GLP-1 injections and tablets at MEDVi, which states they are not FDA approved, with branded routes sold separately. A licensed provider decides which, if any, is right for you.

Users comparing local care can also review PCF city hubs such as Miami, New York, and Los Angeles.

Each provider has its own review: the Hims weight loss review sets out its required membership, its medication prices and its FDA warning letter in full, and the MEDVi review sets out its introductory and refill prices, its three pharmacies, its refund policy and its own FDA warning letter.

Consultation, delivery, and follow-up

Both begin with an online intake. Hims says a licensed provider decides whether you are eligible and that the membership does not include or guarantee a prescription. MEDVi takes payment, then an OpenLoop Health clinician consults with you and decides; MEDVi refunds in full if you are disqualified for a medical reason.

MEDVi says shipping is free and discreet, from one of its three named pharmacies. Hims's weight-loss page does not describe delivery or name a pharmacy.

If a provider cannot clearly explain who reviews your intake, how side effects are handled, or what happens when your refill is due, keep comparing before you proceed.

Hims

Hims prints its medication prices and says plainly that a membership is also required, so the lowest advertised ongoing cost is $298 a month, not the $149 headline figure. The FDA sent Hims a warning letter in September 2025 about how it described compounded semaglutide, and no close-out letter is linked from the FDA's page as of 17 October 2026. If you are weighing it, add the membership to the medication price, check that it serves your state, and read the letter.

Pros

  • The medication prices and the membership terms are both on the weight-loss page, and the membership is stated to be a separate charge
  • Lists brand-name medication only, with the brand and form named for each product
  • Says insurance is not required
  • Says the medication fee is FSA/HSA eligible

Considerations

  • A membership is required on top of the medication, so the lowest advertised ongoing cost is $298 a month rather than $149
  • The membership does not include or guarantee a prescription
  • The FDA issued warning letter 716567 to Hims & Hers Health, Inc. dba Hims on 9 September 2025 over claims about compounded semaglutide, and we found no close-out letter linked from the FDA's page as of 17 October 2026
  • The membership fee is not FSA/HSA eligible, according to Hims
  • Not available in all 50 states, and the page we read does not list which states
  • Some medications are priced far above the lowest figure: Mounjaro is listed at $1,899 a month

MEDVi

MEDVi is the strongest option on this list for a buyer who wants to know who compounds the medicine, who prescribes it and what happens if they stop. The disclosure is genuinely better than its competitors'; the refund terms, once read, are tighter than the marketing implies.

Pros

  • Unusually complete disclosure: pharmacies, prescriber network, medical entity and refund terms are all published
  • Both compounded and branded routes priced on the same platform, so the two can be compared directly
  • Full refund if a clinician disqualifies you on medical grounds
  • 24/7 support and a patient portal for messaging and progress tracking

Considerations

  • No refund for the month in which you cancel, or for any prior month, on a monthly plan
  • Cancellation must reach support at least 72 hours before the next billing date or the next cycle is charged
  • Care coaching and dietician visits are qualified as "subject to insurance and copays eligibility", so "included" is conditional
  • Several advertised categories, peptides and longevity, women’s health, hair, skin and supplements, are marked "coming soon" rather than available (checked 18 September 2026)
  • Marketing carries large self-reported outcome figures that MEDVi's own footnote describes as not typical

Frequently asked questions

Is MEDVi cheaper than Hims?

On the published figures, yes: MEDVi's compounded GLP-1 injections are an introductory $99 for the first month and $199 at refill with no membership, against Hims's $298 a month at the lowest listed price (a $149 membership plus medication from $149). MEDVi's price buys compounded medication, which is not FDA-approved; Hims's buys a brand-name product. Checked 31 October 2026.

Does Hims sell compounded GLP-1 like MEDVi?

Not on the weight-loss page we read on 17 October 2026, which lists brand-name medicines only. The FDA's September 2025 warning letter to Hims concerned claims about compounded semaglutide that hims.com carried in August 2025; we cannot say what Hims offered in between.

Is Hims or MEDVi FDA-approved?

Hims lists FDA-approved brand-name medicines. MEDVi's main plans are compounded GLP-1 injections and tablets, which MEDVi states are not FDA approved. Both companies have received an FDA warning letter about compounded-medication marketing: Hims in September 2025, MEDVi in February 2026.

Which is easier to cancel, Hims or MEDVi?

MEDVi publishes its terms: cancel at least 72 hours before the next billing date, with a full refund inside the first 72 hours before any service or on medical disqualification. Hims's weight-loss page does not set out cancellation or refund terms, so ask before you pay.

Do Hims and MEDVi serve every state?

Hims says its weight loss membership is not available in all 50 states and does not list which. MEDVi does not publish a list of states. Both say eligibility is decided by a licensed clinician.

Editorial transparency

PCF separates clinical information from sponsored links. Some provider links may be sponsored, but all providers are described with cautious medical language: treatment may be available, consultation is required, and clinical appropriateness is determined by a licensed professional.

Provider details can change. Before starting any program, verify the current price, medication path, clinician credentials, pharmacy process, shipping terms, and follow-up support directly with the provider.
